THE PLAN! Yes, the plan. The crazy and brilliant Playpoi Plan, hee hee heeeehehcoughheh:
<begin best-case-scenario-plan-description>
Stage One:
- Get the new playpoi.com up and working
- Roll out all the videos we've been working on
- Get Nick back to practice
- Start working with people to make meaningful performances
Stage Two:
- Make new, even better videos
- Use footage to get grants within Canada, or to otherwise secure a bit of cash flow, so as to focus more on the art
- Set up poi headquarters again, this time avoiding the administrative nightmare of Nick trying to manage a studio all by himself
- Use poi headquarters to rehearse and to blog about poi moves, poi theory, and little tutorials from visiting poi experts
- generally build up an interesting relationship with people who like what we're doing
Stage Three:
- Develop and release thevenue.org, a resource for artists and creative people, and those who want to support them
- Get poiticipators to help make thevenue.org successful in search engines and public forums
- Use the popularity of thevenue.org to promote Emails from (Over?) the Edge. (The idea here is that thevenue.org has potential to reach a greater audience than playpoi, as poi is much more niche than the idea of promoting artists and ideas)
- Money from book sales and the other revenue streams then supports the rest of THE PLAN)
Stage Four:
- Team up with other artists and tour the world with a feature length performance
- Keep track of all the interesting people we meet along the way
Stage Five:
- Focus on developing and popularizing tools that help people and artists support each other.
- Settle down a bit, finally, maintaining a space to do retreats and movement-arts related collaborations
- Continue developing poi as a type of yoga
- Continue to participate in the evolution of tools that help culture and ideas spread freely through human relationships.
Stage six:
- Start... making... smoothies... again.
The problem, of course, is that Nick can't possibly do all this by himself, so that's why he needs a budget and a team. How will you do that, you ask? Aha! Good question. You're keen. We like that. Now start poiticipating.
