Polish Interview Questions Part 2
The second half of me answering the interview questions sent by the Polish poi spinners.
Interview Questions from Poland: Part 1
Cyrik and his friends in Poland sent us a list of interview questions. Originally it was for a Polish juggling magazine, but then we decided to answer the questions in a video, filmed in the back of a car on our way to a workshop in the deep and mysterious mountains of Bavaria. A big thanks to everybody in Poland. You guys are awesome and the party at the end of the festival is definitely a highlight of the summer :)
Dancing with Flowtoys LED Poi
Hey, check it out, we finished our flowtoys.com: video. These are my favorite LED poi, produced by the amazing Sean and Prisna. (Yes, this is what we are using in most of those photos). This is exciting as they've signed me up as an affiliate member, so if you click through and buy something, I get a percentage, which puts me all the closer to getting my own video camera! Oh, and they are selling and wholesaling our DVDs in North America so it is overall very exciting :)
Show Your Poi
We often get emails asking us about poi, how to make them, how to hold them, etc. Since we had such a great crew of poi spinners in Thailand, we decided to Show our Poi. Bound to give you lots of ideas for practice and fire poi possibilities :)
Traditional Maori Poi with Migoto
When we were in Aotearoa (aka New Zealand) in March 2006, we learned some traditional Maori short-poi with Migoto. Remember that the Maori always did poi dancing as part of ritual dances, which also included songs, steps, and a variety of actions (movements) which would tell stories symbolically.
Bob and Hamen's Excellent Poi Documentary
In the spring of 2005, filmmaker Bob Narayan and his brother came to the Poi Studio to shoot a short documentary. He did a most excellent job. It features beautiful inodoor spinning with light and an interview with Nick Woolsey about poi and the Playpoi vision.
Unexpected Interview
Fimed by Camilla Griggers in February, 2005. Nick was unsure on whether to release it or not, as he's a bit shy. It really was a very unexpected interview, and was shot very early in the morning, just after a weekend of poi workshops, and just before Nick had to catch his plane. He doesn't always look like this.
The Poi Studio
This was filmed by Camilla Griggers in December, 2004. It includes some great Poi Studio footage and some LED Poi spinning, plus an explanation of the vision that brought the studio in to being. The Vancouver Poi Studio is no more, but it lives on in our hearts.
