Nick Woolsey

Nick Woolsey began his involvement with movement arts in high school, where he practiced springboard diving and took physical theatre classes. After high school he studied Chen style Taijiquan intensively with master Yau-Sun Tong in Halifax, NS. A knee injury led to a long period of wayward traveling, during which he maintained an on-again, off-again relationship with movement practices. When he found poi, it was the art he'd been looking for all along. He has been devoting himself to the Playpoi vision ever since, and has taught poi and movement workshops to thousands of people around the world.
Nick's non-poi creative projects have included writing and publishing Emails from (Over?) the Edge, producing multimedia theater extravaganzas in planetariums, and designing the world's first and only interactive smoothie research portal. He has professional experience acting and directing for stage, writing and producing for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, and freelancing for Momentum Magazine. He has also worked lots of tedious grunt jobs such as tree-planting and envelope stuffing to help him through periods of abject financial depravity.
