To the right are the various tools you'll need to make a simple pair of tennis ball practice poi.
- Two tennis balls
- Two lengths of string. Length: from your fingertips to your far shoulder
- Either a length of coat-hanger with a little loop at one end, or a hollow pen
- Scissors for cutting string and leather
- A lighter for burning the ends of the string (important)
- A leather punching tool (like the one on many Swiss-Army Knives), a small drill bit, or any other tool that can make SMALL holes in the tennis ball.
- Pliers for making the coat-hanger tool, and for helping make knots tight.
Directions: Cut string, lightly burn the ends. Punch two holes through each tennis ball. Use coat hanger or hollow pen to pull string through tennis ball. Tie thick knot in string. Tie other end through leather strip, or make a knot with a big loop. Fill tennis balls with beans to preferred weight.
