Documentaries about Poi

Nick talks about Beginner's Mind

Nick met filmmaker Michael Stillwater at Cortona Week. He's making a documentary about Songs Without Borders and he asked Nick to talk about what makes people happy when they learn something, and why he's learning to sing even though he's "bad" at it.

Adventures in Poi: The Making of

This is the extended version of the Adventures in Poi trailer. Much of this video was filmed during the making of the DVD, on one of our European tours, but doesn't appear on the DVD.

Poi questions from Poland

Cyrik and his Polish poi spinning friends sent us a list of interview questions. We found time to answer the questions in the back of a car, on our way to a workshop in the mysterious mountains of Bavaria.

A big thanks to all the poi dancers and fire spinners in Poland. You guys are awesome and the party at the end of the festival is definitely a highlight of the summer :)

Traditional Poi Dancing with Migoto

When we were in Aotearoa (aka New Zealand) during our Poi Pilgrimage: New Zealand, Australia, Japan, we made friends with a young Maori woman.

In this video, Migoto shows us some traditional Maori poi dancing.

Poi documentary: Unexpected interview

Fimed by Camilla Griggers in February, 2005.

This is what Nick looks like very early in the morning, just after a weekend of poi workshops, while he's on the way to the airport. :-)

Bob and Hamen's Excellent Poi Documentary

In the spring of 2005, filmmaker Bob Narayan came to the Poi Studio to shoot a short documentary. He did a most excellent job. His brother Hamen did the sound. Many thanks to both!

The video features very beautiful indoor spinning with light, and an interview with Nick about poi and the Playpoi vision.
