We suggest these poi for the following reasons:
#1. Safety!
Every set of fire poi you use need to be very safe. Our recommended pair of poi is safe in a number of ways:
- Uses oval-link chain, which is safer than ball-bearing due to the links being visible. This means you can check the connections and avoid chains breaking while burning.
- Heads are connected directly to the chains. The fewer pieces and connectors your poi have, the less things can go wrong.
- There is no exposed metal in the head, which is especially important for beginners: exposed metal is very hot!
#2. Comfortable weight.
Unless you've been training with really heavy poi, you're most likely not ready for heavy heads. These poi offer a very decently sized flame for their light weight.
#3. Durability.
You'll likely be burning your first set a lot, so get one that will last! These poi are made from all high-quality materials, from the handles to the heads themselves, and will last you until you're ready for a heavier performance set.
#4. Comfortable handles.
Handles are extremely important! If you can't comfortably hold your fire poi, you may accidentally send them flying. To avoid this mishap, select handles that will work for you.
Our recommended poi come with options. There are no rules regarding handle-types. It's all a matter of personal preference and holding styles. If you're not sure, try out a friend's. Note that you can also choose from leather or nylon. This is, again, personal preference. Leather sounds cooler but some people get really righteous blisters from them. Choose wisely!
