Poi Hipsacks: Now With More Colors!

New Poi Hipsack Colors

The Playpoi Hipsacks keep getting better at flowtoys.com. This time they've added more colors along with the stronger fabric, stronger stitching, stronger grommets, and slightly bigger side-pockets to hold smart phones. Once again the best run yet!

And remember, if you use "playpoi4fun" when you buy anything at flowtoys we make a bit of commission, and that helps us produce more great resources for you!

LED evolution: NinjaPoi and G2 Flowlights

Home of Poi has launched their answer to Flowlights: NinjaPoi! Roughly the same cost of a pair of Flowpoi, NinjaPoi have the advantage of a wider range of colors within each poi. They are also brighter than the old flowlights. This looks like true competition for the Flowlights.

Meanwhile, Flowtoys has their own answer to NinjaPoi: G2 Flowlights! All the new lights have "superbold" mode, which appears to be just as bright as the NinjaPoi. Flowlights have the advantage of being modular. I.e. you can use your flowlights as poi, staffs, or any other toy offered by Flowtoys.

Both options take rechargeable batteries. We particularly like the way Flowtoys set up their cords, as it's very minimal. Meanwhile we like the fact that NinjaPoi have very accessible buttons.

And remember that our specialcode with homeofpoi is "playpoi" and our specialcode with Flowtoys is now "playpoi4fun."

New Pro-Series "Twista" Fire Poi from Homeofpoi.com

We just got the new Pro-Series Twista Fire Poi from Home of Poi, and we like them! Here's our (slightly fuzzy) review.

Playpoi Recommended First Fire Poi

recommended fire poi We often get emails asking us what fire poi are the best for your first set.  The answer is a little different for everyone, but we've tracked down what we call the best first set of fire poi!  Read more to find out why!

Pro Series Fire Poi

Home of Poi is now offering their Pro Series Chain Cords and handles, and they are officially awesome! Light weight and strong: exactly what we wanted the shops to come out with.

They are offering complete pro series fire poi with cathedral heads or mega cathedral heads. They also offer the pro series chains with double loops handles. Remember to use "playpoi" as your referral code! :)

How to Make Sock Poi

It's easy to make your own sock poi. All you need is socks, big balloons, and something to fill them with! But remember that you don't need to fill them too much. Just a cup of rice or water is probably enough.

Crystal Poi

Check it out: The new Crystalpoi from flowtoys.com! Flowlights inside soft cases. This makes an awesome and very durable pair of rechargeable LED poi. Make sure you get the "flow mass" covers to add a little weight.

Both flowlights and crystal cases are now available on homeofpoi.com.

One-piece Cone Poi

We are excited to present one-piece cone poi, the result of a collaborative design project between Home of Poi and Playpoi based loosely on a pair of sock poi that Nick got from Drew (of Ministry of Manipulation). They are super comfortable and pretty much tangle free.

So order a pair and tell us what you think. (Note: We do not recommend the cone-poi with the swivels, as we think they are too "clunky.") Remember to use "playpoi" as your referral code in order to keep supporting us in our gear design and other projects!

How to Make and Use Colecord Poi

Nick has loved Colecord ever since Cole gave him a pair of poi at the European Juggling Convention in 2006, and the rest of the Playpoi crew agrees!  Colecord is...

  • very comfortable
  • very strong
  • slightly springy
  • has great friction

In the Spring of 2008, we started to correspond with Homeofpoi.com about gear design (among other things) and we sent them samples of colecord and videos about why it's so great. They found the manufacturer in Taiwan and now you can buy Colecord at homeofpoi.com! Yayness!

Get Banyan's Pants!

We're always getting emails asking us about the pants that Nick wears in his videos, so now we'll answer the all important question: where do these awesome pants come from?  Why the mighty Banyan of course!

Now the voice of the people has spoken: we love Banyan's pants!  Sean and Prisna heard our call, and ACTION PANTS are now available on flowtoys.com!  Get your pair before they're gone!
