Flowtoys Lauches PodPoi: The Best LED Poi Yet!

Flowtoys has officially launched Podpoi! These are the best LED poi I've played with yet! They're soft! The flowcord basically disappears into the poi. They are bright! They are rechargeable! These are awesome! I definitely recommend clicking through and getting a pair! This is a big step in the evolution of LED poi.

Oh, and if you love me and want me to be supported as I make more poi videos and resources, note the image with the important information related to your shopping experience. But remember to NOT post such information on the internet. If you do, it get's deactivated and that's such a pain! I would love to contribute a lot to the poi world this year and your support goes a long way!

Homeofpoi's Silicone Ball Handles with Swivels

Homeofpoi.com is again producing just the kind of gear the spinners have asked for. This time they've created super streamlined silicon ball handles with embedded swivels. Simple. Minimal. Easy. We approve!  If you like them, go buy a pair of ball handles alone, or buy a pair of cone-poi with ball-handles!

The Evolution of Erik's Flag Poi

Over a year ago we filmed G in the park in Toronto using Erik's Flag Poi. Here's the resulting video! The flag poi keep getting better so if you feel inspired, go buy some! And use PLAYPOI2012 to save 10%!

Poi Hipsacks: Now With More Colors!

New Poi Hipsack Colors

The Playpoi Hipsacks keep getting better at flowtoys.com. This time they've added more colors along with the stronger fabric, stronger stitching, stronger grommets, and slightly bigger side-pockets to hold smart phones. Once again the best run yet!

LED evolution: NinjaPoi and G2 Flowlights

Home of Poi has launched their answer to Flowlights: NinjaPoi! Roughly the same cost of a pair of Flowpoi, NinjaPoi have the advantage of a wider range of colors within each poi. They are also brighter than the old flowlights. This looks like true competition for the Flowlights.

Meanwhile, Flowtoys has their own answer to NinjaPoi: G2 Flowlights! All the new lights have "superbold" mode, which appears to be just as bright as the NinjaPoi. Flowlights have the advantage of being modular. I.e. you can use your flowlights as poi, staffs, or any other toy offered by Flowtoys.

Both options take rechargeable batteries. We particularly like the way Flowtoys set up their cords, as it's very minimal. Meanwhile we like the fact that NinjaPoi have very accessible buttons.

New Pro-Series "Twista" Fire Poi from Homeofpoi.com

We just got the new Pro-Series Twista Fire Poi from Home of Poi, and we like them! Here's our (slightly fuzzy) review.

Choosing Your First Poi: Length, Weight, and Grips

People often write us to ask which poi are best. In this video, Nick and G share their thoughts on picking your first pair of poi.

If you feel inspired, go buy a pair of cone-poi with ball-handles, or one-piece cone-poi!

Homeofpoi Now Selling S-Staffs

We're happy to announce that Homeofpoi.com is now selling s-staffs. They look great. We recommend this as an awesome art form to go along with your love of poi :)

Flowtoys Modular System

Flowtoys has launched their new modular system! This is great news for anybody who plays with more than one kind of toy. In this video, Sean and Prisna give a demo of the whole system! If you like what you see, go straight to flowtoys.

In recent news, Flowtoys has launched a flowlight with a full spectrum of colors!

Playpoi Recommended First Fire Poi

recommended fire poi We often get emails asking us what fire poi are the best for your first set.  The answer is a little different for everyone, but we've tracked down what we call the best first set of fire poi!  Read more to find out why!

Pro Series Fire Poi

Home of Poi is now offering their Pro Series Chain Cords and handles, and they are officially awesome! Light weight and strong: exactly what we wanted the shops to come out with.

They are offering complete pro series fire poi with cathedral heads or mega cathedral heads. They also offer the pro series chains with double loops handles

How to Make Sock Poi

It's easy to make your own sock poi. All you need is socks, big balloons, and something to fill them with! But remember that you don't need to fill them too much. Just a cup of rice or water is probably enough.

Crystal Poi

Check it out: The new Crystalpoi from flowtoys.com! This makes an awesome and very durable pair of rechargeable LED poi. Make sure you get the "flow mass" covers to add a little weight. Both flowlights and crystal cases are now available on homeofpoi.com.

One-piece Cone Poi

We are excited to present one-piece cone poi, the result of a collaborative design project between Home of Poi and Playpoi based loosely on a pair of sock poi that Nick got from Drew (of Ministry of Manipulation). They are super comfortable and pretty much tangle free.

So order a pair and tell us what you think

How to Make and Use Colecord Poi

Nick has loved Colecord ever since Cole gave him a pair of poi at the European Juggling Convention in 2006, and the rest of the Playpoi crew agrees!  Colecord is...

  • very comfortable
  • very strong
  • slightly springy
  • has great friction

In the Spring of 2008, we started to correspond with Homeofpoi.com about gear design (among other things) and we sent them samples of colecord and videos about why it's so great. They found the manufacturer in Taiwan and now you can buy Colecord at homeofpoi.com! Yayness!
