Poi Paradise in Bali? March-June 2008!

Etc/GMT

IMG_2027.JPGI'll be in Bali from Febuary 19th to June 1st. First order of priorities is the Bali Spirit Festival, from March 5th - 16th, where I hope to perform, attend workshops in yoga and dance, and enjoy the concerts.

After the festival I will focus on the new videos, the pendants and clothing, keeping my yoga and poi practice going, finishing the new website, putting a little choreography together, upgrading computer skills, arranging opportunities for next summer, and hopefully launching some fun little projects with the brilliant friends who are coming to play. I'll also offer private lessons, which is a great way to learn.

For reference: Bali is a small island in the middle of Indonesia, a country spanning many islands stretching above Australia. Bali has an ancient Hindu culture and the people are very devoted to their incredibly unique way of life. It may be the most beautiful place I have ever seen. You can stay in nice guesthouses for about $10USD/night, and it's often cheapest to get there by first flying to Kuala Lumpur or Singapore, and then booking a cheap ticket to Denpasar (in Bali) through airasia.com or jetstar.com.

See you somewhere soon :)

Etc/GMT

The biggest juggling convention in the world has become a mecca for poi spinners and twirlers of all types. This year's event will be near Athens, Greece. I'm hoping to get there. Either way it's an event worth going to. Days full of workshops, nights full of performances and silly juggling people having fun.

Play Festival

Etc/GMT

I've missed the Play Festival for the past few years, and I had to listen to everybody go on at great length about how fun it was, and this year I'm going to get there some how. So there.

Organized by the Mighty Duncan, the Play Festival is England's most loved and attended poi/staff/silliness gathering. Music, performances, bands, games, debauchery, silly English people and their non-Englsh friends. Go to this event if you can. I will be there. You'll know me by my cool new pants.

Glade Festival is another renowned England music festival. I have a lot of friends going, including some special people from North America. I'm very much looking forwards to seeing my European community and North American community overlap.

...Note that I will only be there if I can afford to fly to Europe and buy a ticket. You're welcome to sponsor me.

Play Camp in Thailand

2007-01-01 14:50
2007-04-01 14:50
Etc/GMT

Hi there, this is Nick, writing from Thailand. This isn't really an "event" yet. I've come to Thailnd, and I've been telling other people to join me here, to train, to make videos, to choreograph, etc. I am not organizing anything yet, nor am I committing to anything. I'm on a working holiday, catching up on a mountain of work, but I like playing with other people, and am setting things up to allow this to happen.

So don't come with big expectations. Cool things might happen, or it could be pretty laid back. I'm mostly designating Pai as a good place to hang out and play with toys. Others are coming.

If you want to know more, you can check my Thailand (un)Plan blog post. I'll be unveiling more details via the blog as they come into being. Just contact me if you're serious about coming.

Happy trails!

(hee hee. That was a poi joke)

Bristol Juggling Convention, UK

2006-09-16 19:38
2006-09-25 19:38
Etc/GMT

Everybody tells me that this is the most chilled-out, enjoyable, don't-miss juggling convention around, and all my favourite twirlers go. It's ten days long. Drew told me that the first year he went he was just checking it out for the afternoon, and didn't leave for eight days... or soemthing like that.

Anyway, I'll be there unless I get some kind of can't-refuse offer. I won't be doing any official workshops or anything, thank goodness, but I'll be playing with everybody and we'll get a lot of poi inspiration going.

No website for this one, as far as I can tell.
