Day 1, Monday, July 20th, 2009
-
1st Workshop from 18:00 to 19:45
- "Foundations of Poi: building blocks and scales of poi"
- Level: Beginners or more experienced spinners who want to delve into foundation principles
- Overview: Modes, rhythm, plane control, freedom of expression, and strategies for learning skills effectively. To enjoy these workshops you should know at least a few basic moves and turns. There is plenty of material to challenge those who know all the basics already.
-
2nd Workshop from 20:00 to 21:45
- "Poi-Fu: teaching poi to your body"
- Level: all levels welcome (complete beginners may be challenged once we actually pick up our poi)
- Overview: Covers a foundation system for how your body works with poi. Stepping, turning, spotting, and whirling. Vetruvian man: the lines of the body. The 4 modes with your arms. Much of the workshop involves spinning your body without poi 1st. Then we'll put it all together and add in poi moves.

-
2nd Workshop from 20:00 to 21:45

- To get from Bristol to Calne via public transport requires getting the train from Bristol Temple Meads (BRI) to Chippenham (CPM).
An off-peak return is about £6.90 and takes ~ 30 min.
From just outside the doors of Chippenham station, get the number 55 or 55a Bus to Calne town hall. This takes ~ 15 min and is approx £2.
Plan your journey carefully, especially the return.
- For ride-share, Richard has registered an event freewheelers.co.uk called 'Playpoi Workshop, Calne, United Kingdom'.
All people have to do is go on, register, and offer a lift if they can.
