The Spinning Persons Institute (SPIn), is a not-for-profit, citizens research group dedicated to studying the art and science of poi and other kinetic arts. Nick Woolsey and several other members of Playpoi have been working with SPIn for several years. Exposure to SPIn's scientific methodology has greatly influenced the development and implementation of playpoi, playpoi.com, and our artistic endeavors. We look forward to many more years of enjoyable studies at SPIn!
Oh yeah, Nick Woolsey draws these little guys. It's about as good as he gets in the art department. He likes his little guys, and some others do, but many people don't think they don't really capture the depth of poi, and at least one person thinks they all look a little "tense." Nick's circle of friends and advisors convinced him to replace the little guy drawings with compelling photography throughout most of the website. This is Nick's one hold-out where he is allowed to display his little-guy-drawings to his heart's content.
